Elana Mendelson

founder & principal designer

Elana Mendelson is an industry design leader and the CEO and Principal Designer of Elana Designs, a boutique interior design firm. Born and raised in the greater DMV, Elana designs interiors for families where beauty and aesthetics meet function and versatility. With over 20 years of experience, her expertise spans new construction, renovations and full-scope furnishings. She thoughtfully partners with select families, overseeing every aspect of the project, from creative conception and curation to cohesive construction and completion.

With a Masters in Interior Design from the George Washington University, Elana is an educated leader in the design industry who spent her early years at a globally renowned interior architecture firm specializing in spaces over 50,000 sq ft. Today, she brings this wealth of expertise in construction and design management to every family and project with whom she partners. Recently, her beautifully functional family-centric designs and insights have gained recognition by The Washington Post, Washingtonian, Better Homes and Gardens, LivingEtc. and Real Simple.

When not immersed in the intricacies of designing forever homes, Elana can be found exploring Great Falls, taking long walks on the Bethesda Trolley Trail with her mini-bernedoodle or sipping a mocha latte at her favorite Georgetown coffee shop from her grad-school days at GWU. On Sundays you can find her cheering for her sports-loving husband and 3 energetic boys playing baseball at the parks and fields she frequented as a child.
